Our family has been farming here since 1815 and has grown produce for over 90 years. Apples are our signature crop. We grow over 30 varieties. You can say apples are our specialty!!
Ingredients
1 ½ cup flour
2 tsp. baking powder
½ cup sugar
½ tsp. salt
½ tsp. cinnamon
¼ cup shortening
½ cup milk
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 cup diced apples
Sift flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon in a mixing bowl. Cut in shortening until fine crumbs form. Combine milk & egg. Add to dry ingredients along with apples. Stir just to moisten. Spoon batter into muffin cups filling 2/3 full. Sprinkle with: ¼ cup chopped walnuts, ½ tsp. cinnamon, ¼ cup brown sugar (packed). (Mix these 3 ingredients before sprinkling on muffins). Bake at 375 for 25 min or until golden brown. Serve warm. Makes 12 muffins.
