Ever wonder how White House Fruit Farm got its name?

As we continue celebrating America’s 250th birthday, we’re sharing another piece of our farm’s history.

In the early 1920s, Jerome Hull inherited the farm from his mother’s family. As the first superintendent of Mahoning County Schools, he dedicated his career to strengthening local education by bringing one-room schoolhouses together into unified school districts.

Jerome was also deeply patriotic. He painted the farmhouse white as a tribute to the American presidency and named it White House Fruit Farm—a name that has remained with us for generations.

More than a century later, we’re proud to continue the legacy of farming, family, and community that he helped build.

🇺🇸 Did you know White House Fruit Farm has a connection to one of America’s Founding Fathers?

More than 200 years ago, our ancestor, Henry Baird, purchased this farm from the administration of President Thomas Jefferson—a man whose passion for agriculture helped shape the settlement of Ohio.

To honor America’s 250th birthday, we brought a small piece of that history back home by planting a Jefferson Garden at the front of our Market using historic seeds from Jefferson’s gardens at Monticello. While the garden is still growing, it’s already beginning to bloom and will continue to flourish in the seasons ahead.

We’re honored to have been your family farm for over 200 years, carrying on a tradition of agriculture that reaches back to the founding of our nation.

🫐 Homegrown blueberry season is here!

Fresh-picked blueberries are now available daily in the Market in both pints and quarts, and Pick-Your-Own blueberries begins Monday, June 29!

To help everyone stay cool, Pick-Your-Own hours will be 9:00 AM–12:00 PM, Monday-Fri. We recommend coming early, as temperatures are expected to climb throughout the day.

Whether you pick your own or grab a container already picked, there’s no better time to enjoy fresh, local blueberries. They’re perfect for snacking, baking, smoothies, or freezing to enjoy all year long.

We’ll even have freezer sheets available in the Market with simple tips for freezing your blueberries at home!
