Local in our Market is the delicious Pure Ohio Maple Syrup from Misty Maples Sugar House. Dave and Nancy Hively, who have been making syrup since 1984, tap 2500 trees locally, right here in Salem, Ohio.
This 6 generations of local farmers have won the international maple syrup institute Best In Show award for the U.S. & Canada twice in 2009 and 2011. Not only is maple syrup delicious, but it also has many benefits. Maple syrup is naturally beneficial to our health thanks to all of the nutrients it contains, as well as its anti-inflammatory compounds. It also contains many natural antioxidants that are reported to have anti-cancer, anti-bacterial, and anti-diabetic properties. Enjoy some of these farm-favorite recipes for a seasonal treat.
Ingredients
2 C pumpkin seeds
1 C slivered almonds
1 C unsalted sunflower seeds
1 C dried cherries, blueberries, craisins or raisins (your choice)
6 Tbsp Misty Maples Sugar House maple syrup

Mix all seeds with 6 Tbsp real maple syrup. Spread on cookie sheet sprayed with non-stick spray. Bake at 300 for 20 minutes or until lightly toasted. Let cool and break up in clumps. Mix in dried fruit. Store in an air tight container. Enjoy.
